Adopt-a-Hive or Rent-a-Hive Program
Birds and Bees Farm offers two programs for you to get your very own bees. See them build comb, raise their brood, and produce honey right before your eyes. The bees will pollinate your flower beds and garden while either you or a trained beekeeper maintains your hives.
Rent-a-Hive Program
You can make an impact and help reduce the decline of honeybees with our Birds & Bees Farm " Rent_A-Hive" Program. You can enjoy the world of the Honey-Bees with this option; the bees and all the equipment are brought to your property, increasing the production of your gardens fruits and vegetables for you and your neighbors. You will have a longer and more profuse flowering of your ornamental plants,shrubs, flowers, and trees. Your increased knowledge of the honeybee also helps educate your neighbors of the importance of the bees survival and promotes awareness of the bees importance in our survival. A trained beekeeper maintains the hives while teaching you about how the bees work. A trained beekeeper will give you lessons in beekeeping while starting off the hive. Then you take over maintaining your very own hives and producing your very own honey. In addition, you will receive 3 lbs of delicious , raw honey, from your own hive, that has the subtle flavors of your own gardens nectars. This is also a great way to learn about the bees and the hive, if you are considering starting your own hive in the future. With this option, your donation will support the adoption of a beehive at Birds and Bees Farm for one season, and you will receive regular reports, and the opportunity to visit and inspect your colony, with a hands on experience! This is the best way to see if you want to become a beekeeper! You will also receive a set of beeswax candles as well as 3 lbs of honey! Your adoption makes a direct positive impact on the sustainability and health of New Jersey's managed honey bee colonies and provides our farmers beneficial pollination.. Your knowledge of environmental awareness will help to share and promote the vital role of the honey bees's positive impact on our environment, both in our neighborhood's and business's. Agriculture needs you and you need Agriculture. Other ways of helping is to buy locally, from your local Farm Market's who offers Jersey Fresh produce. We are members of the NJ Beekeepers Association, as well as the New Jersey Farm Bureau , so please support these local organizations!
